Hand fungus, and nail fungus?

any alternative remedy for hand and foot nailf fungus? My little brother nailf fungus have been bad for almost three years he has not treat them at all. How long will it take to get well if he get's treated now?Hand fungus, and nail fungus?
Tea Tree Oil or Cajeput Oil. Keep those areas clean and dry. It may take him awhile to get well if he has been sick that long. He may need to detox from the inside for candida while using the oils topically. I would be surprised if it clears up in 2 weeks.Hand fungus, and nail fungus?
I treated mine using dandruff shampoo. It has an ingredient that deprives the fungus of food. I washed using the shampoo and when dry I used Caneston lotion and it cleared up within days.
There are many things to try for nail fungus, vinegar, tea tree oil/ olive oil Vick's Vaporub are just some that are being used.
Hydrogen Peroxide will destroy the fungus.
Depends on how it's treated. There are pills you can take for nail fungus, but the results will take weeks or even months; but it can be cured, and you've probably seen the commercials on tv for prescription drugs for nail fungus a hundred times by now.

You say ';hand fungus';. If he has fungus growth on his hands present in areas other than his nails, surely you already know that there are both over-the-counter and prescription anti-fungal creams and sprays that can be used on the skin to quickly kill fungal infection on the skin.

What will take longer is the infection under the nails. The nails can be removed by a dermatologist, and the tissue underneath treated to quickly kill the fungus and then the nails grow back; but removing the nails is not often requested by patients, obviously.

Otherwise there is a common prescription medication for treated nail fungus that works, but takes some weeks to really do its job, and also you have to wait for the discolored nails to grow out as well.

I guess the real question is, why hasn't your little brother seen a doctor to look at his hands? And he's had this for years? Is he a minor? Sounds like parental neglect to me, if this is the case. If he has untreated problems like this, it wouldn't surprise me if he has other problems as well, as it doesn't sound like he's had regular medical care.
Hand and nail fungus treatment is very important. The sooner you begin treatment the better. If left untreated, hand and nail fungus can become very painful and unsightly. Unfortunately many people ignore it until the symptoms worsen.

One of the biggest mistakes we see in nail fungus treatment is trying a home remedy for nail fungus. Many patients spend months trying treatments like vinegar, bleach, rubbing alcohol and even Listerine. Unfortunately except in rare cases, these home remedies don鈥檛 work. And since you are wasting time trying them, your fungus can actually worsen.

Many patients have asked if prescription medications are safe. The two most popular prescription medications are Sporanox capsules and Lamisil tablets. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a public health advisory in May 2001 concerning Sporanox (itraconazole) capsules and Lamisil (terbinafine hydrochloride) tablets for the treatment of nail fungus. The FDA concluded that there is strong evidence of congestive heart failure and hepatic adverse events with the administration of these therapies. Hepatic toxicity includes liver failure and death. Given the possible risks associated with both drugs, you need to look at better and safer alternatives.
A hand/skin fungal infection by a dermatophyte can be treated with a topical AZOLE cream that can be purchased over the counter. A fingernail infection is also known as Onchymycosis, this will require sustained treatment with a prescription antibiotic (Lamisil). Alternatives that will help alleviate symptoms of Onchymycosis included prolonged use of Azole creams and Salicylic acid but these will not cure the infection. Research is currently being done on laser therapy but these wont be available for a few more years.

Your little brother should really receive medical attention for this nail infection, although not life threatening it is still important to see a doctor/mycologist.
