My thumb nail has a horizontal crack right down the middle. It is raised and where it seems like it is sliced... any ideas? Is there anything I can do for it? Thanks!!!Could this be nail fungus?
Do you mean from side to side or from tip to nail bed? If there is a pale greenish or yellowish color which seems to look like it's under the crack it is probably a fungus. Soak in 9 parts water with one part bleach (teaspoons full) for 2 minutes, While soaking push thumb nail against container to try to open crack a tad to let solution in. 2 to 3 times daily. Rinse and dry.
If it's not fungus, then you must've hit it hard against something causing the crack Some people have nails that are very brittle and if let grow too long can crack.You can go to a salon for a fix that will last quite a while in order to let nail grow out in one piece.
