For mild cases, nail lacquer is what is recommended (the nail lacquer I was given was loceryl and it got rid of all ';mild'; cases I had, but not my very badly gone toenail). For worser cases or really long-lasting ones that won't budge with the lacquer, tablets are given, which are good at getting rid of the ugliest cases. These things are obtained on prescription. Note a doctor will most likely give you the lacquer first, due to risks surrounding the tablets on long-term (not meant to be good for the liver). Beware also that if it does last a long time, a doctor may still not be willing to give you the tablets, so you may have to seek another doctors opinion in such cases- I was kept years waiting for them to give me tablets; not kidding!





I don't know if there is any non-prescription medication, but my guess that if there is, it will be a lacquer.
